I've got to be one of three people on the planet without a classic ipod or ipod touch. A friend of mine has a touch. With all that the ipod touch can do, I want one. But then I think ... I have the Dare phone from Verizon, why can't it do all that. Well we all know that phone carriers block a lot of the functions that their phones ... yeah the phones they themselves sell ... can do. I always have thought that dumb. But I digress.
Now that the Ipod touch is "real" to me, through its being owned by a friend, I wouldn't mind having one. But ... it's an IPOD! I've sworn many times that I would not buy an ipod. And I really do not want one.
Enter the Zune. I've been gettign auto-email alerts on the Zune, and it looks to be quite the nifty little device. It will come in a 32gb version that is a lot less expensive than it's Ipod counterpart. So. I mmore or less decided to get myself one of these cute little devices. It will have all that the ipod has, basically, plus the added bonuses of HD radio and HD video output.
Then along came news that the next iteration of the ipod would have a camera. At first thought that sounds ... cool, but ... most of us have cell phones with a camera. Do we really need one on our zune or ipod? I'm leaning towards ... no.
I'm still leaning towards the Zune. The biggest concern I have, though, now is will it have the same app store idea with the same add on extras that the ipod does? I'm hearing that, yes, it will. But it will take a while to build up so imposing a depositoring of programs such as Apple has. Still ... the price of the new Zune, the HD component, the wifi capability (which the ipod does have as well), and the familiarity that I have already with Zune (I have the first one that came out) all still make me lean towards the Zune. Now the only question left is ... will I have enough money when it comes out for me to actually buy it. Ha.
